Who can get a card

HopkinsLibraryDistrictmap.pdfEveryone in our service area (please check the map) is eligible for a library card that will allow you to use the 42 member libraries of the Lakeland Library Cooperative, borrow ebooks, borrow books from nearly every library in Michigan through MeL, and use the databases funded and brought to you by MeL!
How to Get Your Card

Come to the library with a valid driver's license or official mail that shows your Hopkins address (i.e. rental agreement, insurance/utility bills, etc.), fill out a short form, and you will be checking out books in no time!
If you are under 18 or would like to get a card for you child, they must have a parent or legal guardian cosign for them. This cosigner can not have any fines on their account to cosign for anyone else.
Borrowing and Limits
Our books can be checked out for 3 weeks. Magazines, VHS, Dvds, story books, and audio books can only be checked out for 1 week.
Placing Holds
You can place holds on material through our catalog on-line or we can do it for you at the circulation desk. Don't know how to place holds on line? Stop by and we will show you how!
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
You can renew your items on-line at anytime by logging on to your account. Note: your pin is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Or
We can renew your items for you. Bring them in or give us a call and we can take care of that for you. Note: If there is a hold on your item, we cannot renew it.
